Lessons from a Stomach Bug
It never fails. I had just posted about the early bedtime, when we were struck down. Hard. A stomach bug is a bad thing when you’re single. It’s far worse when you have it, your toddler has it, and you’re trying to protect your infant. There are a few things to be learned from a stomach bug, however.
1. Pull-ups are not very good for toddlers with diarrhea.
2. Toddler vomit in the middle of night is far worse than toddler vomit during the day.
3. Toddlers don’t like Pedialyte. At least mine doesn’t.
4. You always wish your toilet was cleaner when you’re hugging it.
5. There is nothing more comforting than the bathroom floor when you’re dry heaving and sweaty.
6. Your husband really has no idea what taking care of two little ones is like until you can’t do it anymore.
7. Your husband can only handle two little ones until 2pm.
8. A nap is heavenly.
9. Sleep is nature’s healing method, and you need lots of it when you’re down.
10. Don’t plan on getting much sleep with a sick toddler and a two month old.
And perhaps the best lesson of all:
11. Cherish the day you begin to feel better. There is nothing like coming back from must have been the edge of death with love in your heart for the husband that tried his best and the children that needed you so desperately they did nothing but fuss and whine for your love and attention while you lay prostrate on the couch. Oh, and never get behind on sleep again.

I’m taking your last suggestion seriously and heading off to bed to catch up on my much-behind sleep… but not before commenting on your blog of course.

Oh, and remember your own Mommy Mantra: This, too, shall pass! Hang in there! Been through a similar episode myself, so I feel your pain!

Thanks! We’re all feeling much better. I’d post and say that Brian slept almost ten hours straight last night, but I don’t want to jinx us…LOL
