Real Mommies Get It

The Early Baby Bedtime

Brian is now going to bed at 7pm. I’ve been waiting somewhat patiently for the routine early bedtime, and now I have it. Jake goes to read stories with Mom around 7:30 most nights, and is out around an hour later. Now, he’s in a little preschool which wears him out, so he’ll be asleep by 7 most nights, too.

I am so excited!

I’m not excited to be getting up at 1am and 4am to feed Brian. I’m not thrilled to be waking up at 6:30am with both boys in the morning. But I am excited that Brian is developing a nice sleep routine. Presumably his sleep will stretch now from a 1am feeding to a 3am feeding and then, someday, he’ll be sleeping from 7pm to 6:30am, and I’ll be in heaven. He might even decide to go 6:30pm to 6:30am, but we’ll see about that.

Until then, I’m going to count my lucky stars that babies and toddlers go to bed early enough for mom to get her writing done in the evenings and still have time left over to watch a little t.v. before turning in herself.

Sleep tight, little ones!
