The World of a Working Mom

Sticky Baby Fat

I can prove to you that you must exercise to lose weight effectively, especially Baby Fat. Maybe breastfeeding helps. I wouldn’t’ know because it didn’t work for either of my boys despite my best efforts. So I don’t get those free calories burned off.

I’ve been wavering between the last fifteen and twenty pounds of baby fat for about two months now and this stuff is sticky. It won’t budge without some serious cardio. At least I hope so, because that’s the one thing I haven’t been doing, so it’s my last hope.

Diet
I’ve done reasonably well with my diet. I could shave off some more potion sizes, but I cut out sugar for over a month and now just have it sparingly, if at all. We’re eating at home a lot more, so that food is a bit lighter than eating out. I know I’m consuming fewer calories and that got me down another four pounds or so, but I plateaued.

Exercise
I’m not a dummy. I knew it was going to happen, but I was hoping for a plateau closer to ten pounds. The truth is I desperately want to get into an exercise routine, but I’m struggling to get started. I started hopping on the treadmill, and then naptime shortened on me. I had to start working at night to make up the hours and lost my exercise time.

It cooled off a bit, but it’s still too hot with the humidity to walk outside anytime but first thing in the morning, and believe me, walking with two boys is not what I want to do before my first round of caffeine. So I’m stuck.

I am hopeful though. I know I’ve got the drive. I know I’ve got the commitment. Work is starting to come back under control, so I just have to find the time. And don’t worry, I will. I absolutely despise feeling this heavy and out of control…
