The World of a Working Mom

Oh, Nuts.

Mom and JakeJust goes to show the rules of pregnancy are always changing. A new study followed pregnant moms and their babies for eight years tracking diet and health information. It would seem mothers who ate nut products every day (or almost every day) during pregnancy had children with up to a 52% greater chance of asthma symptoms like shortness of breath and wheezing.

Ironically, I love peanut butter, but didn’t eat that much during either pregnancy. Good for me. Good for my babies. Maybe I’m a good mommy after all. *wink*

For all those trying to figure out what is okay during pregnancy, you can cross the wonderful fats and protein of nuts off the list.

Nuts.

  1. Well drat. PB&J sandwiches are one of the things I love to eat right now…guess I better cut back on them a bit! I didn’t start eating them until about 1/2 way through though so perhaps there is still hope of us having a “normal” kid – not that that would make it any fun at all ;)

  2. Figures, right? You crave what you can’t have. You’re right about normal kids? Who wants one of THOSE? LOL

  3. I ate peanut butter ALL the time when I was pregnant – mostly in the 3rd trimester. I couldn’t get enough of it. It was extra crunchy peanut butter at that. PB&J sandwiches and green apples with PB were my favorites.
