Real Mommies Get It

It’s Time to Resolve My Fat

So all my good intentions for this year have come to naught. I’ve not lost all that baby/stress weight, and I’m not sure what weight loss diet I’d need to perform such a miracle on the schedule I’m currently following. But I do have a resolution for my fat that is very much in tune with a form of a weight loss diet – I’m going to be diabetic.

I know, I know – I think I tried this before. But now I’m really going to do it.  It’s time now.

My father has Type 2 diabetes. So do both of my Aunts. I know that I can prevent it for quite some time if I can get my weight down, stop eating sugar and start exercising (again.) So here’s the plan:

I will (starting tomorrow) follow the same style of diet I’ll have to follow in about ten years. If I am even reasonably close to cutting out all the sugary crap in my diet, I’ll be in business – I’ll lose weight, I’ll feel better, I’ll be setting a better example for the kiddos and I’ll be preventing diabetes.

Finding time to work out will be the hardest part, but I can work it in when I can for the next few months and when summer rolls around again, I’ll join up (again) at the Y to utilize the childcare, awesome kiddie swimming pool and the elliptical machine.

It’s workable. I just need to do it long enough for it to become habit.

The Christmas Picture

jammers.jpgI can’t find cute Christmas clothes for the boys. Not that I’ve had time to look anywhere but Wal-Mart and Target (Hi! I’m a frazzled suburban mom!), but I’d like to find cute holidays outfits to put them in for Christmas pictures.

Confessions of a Bad Mom
Okay, I’ll admit that I haven’t exactly taken formal Christmas photos before this year, but this is a good year to start, right? I might even work my way up to Christmas cards next year. In five more years, I can do that official family letter thing.

But anyway back to the problem at hand.

Christmas Costumes

I swear girls get better holiday clothing in every season. This is no surprise, however. Girl clothes are always cuter than boy clothes. Pants and shirts are rather basic after all. Boys get one red shirt sporting Sponge Bob in a Santa hat. Girls get an entire section of full-blown Christmas costumes.

So I was thinking it might be fun to get the two boys some Santa suits to wear for fun, or maybe buy them matching Christmas pajamas. If I can find matching fluffy warm jammies with feet, the pictures could be really cute.

Of course, I might have trouble getting my eldest into his jammies since he doesn’t like ones with feet. I might just bribe him with yet another machine to add to his collection, however. The more I think about it, the more I’m loving the pajamas idea…
